Conducts a quantitative study using a pre-coded survey questionnaire with 149 nurse managers. Identifies managerial effectiveness attributes using an effectiveness dimensions ranking tool, comprising four groups of co-dependent skill dimensions. |

Backgrounds the primary health care initiative, the Transitional Care Nursing service, which aims to facilitate integrated care between primary, secondary and community health care services. Explores whether support in the form of the Transitional Care Nursing service influences the experience of patients who receive assistance during the transition between hospital and home. Conducts qualitative, semi-structured interviews with 12 patients whose responses are thematically analysed. Highlights the characteristics of care offered by Transitional Care nurses that describe the person-centred care patients received. |

Uses an instrumental case study to explore the role of Advanced Choice of Employment (ACE) on the decision to enter the Nurse Entry to Specialised Practice (NESP). Examines the NESP programme in one DHB in which 14 participants who had accepted positions on NESP without specifying the specialty were given semi-structured interviews, as was the NESP coordinator about the employer experience of NESP. Suggests how education providers and DHBs can prepare ACE applicants for the recruitment process. |

Identifies two categories of mobility problems: 'compromised pre-existing mobility', with a subcategory of 'accessing services prior to admission' and 'mobilisation difficulties during hospitalisation', with a subcategory of 'dissonance between dependency and need for assistance'. Recommends bariatric-care pathways for the morbidly-obese patient. |
